[ About the artwork ]

Some Birds Talk Too Much

A green parrot fills the frame in profile, its orange beak bound shut with a white cloth strip knotted into a large bow at the top. A red-rimmed eye set in a blue patch stares out from scalloped green feathers, facing right. Around it, Some Birds Talk Too Much spells its warning: "Some birds" and "too much!" in dark type, the large word "talk" in outlined green, and "silence means security!!" in cream script on a gray band.

Made for collectors of wartime graphics, history buffs and anyone drawn to sharp mid-century poster design, this full-colour lithograph brings a pointed message and clean palette to a wall. It settles well in a study above a desk or in a home office where its cream background and deep greens read clearly. Browse more in our Vintage Propaganda Posters collection.

About
this print.

01

What does the artwork on this poster show?

It shows one green parrot in profile from the shoulder up, facing right, with its orange beak bound shut by a white cloth strip tied in a large bow. A red-rimmed eye with a blue patch and scalloped green feathers complete the bird, set against a flat cream background with a gray band across the lower area.

02

What lettering appears on the poster?

The wording is a wartime security message. "Some birds" and "too much!" print in dark type, the large word "talk" appears in outlined green, and "silence means security!!" is set in cream script on the gray band. An orange-outlined speech bubble ties the phrasing to the parrot.

03

What colours are used in the design?

The palette runs to deep greens, orange, cream, white and gray, with a red-rimmed eye and a blue patch around it. The lettering is multi-coloured rather than a single tone, mixing dark type, green and cream script across the flat cream and gray ground.

04

What sizes can I order?

You can choose from eight sizes: 8"x12", 11"x17", 12"x18", 16"x24", 20"x30", 22"x34", 24"x36" and 26"x40". The full artwork is kept with matching edge padding where needed; sizes in the exact-fit band may still need light centred trimming to fit the ratio.
