01What does this Calling WAAC poster show?
It shows a young woman in an army uniform jacket with U.S. lapel discs, shirt and tie, wearing headphones with antenna-like arms as she operates a transmitter. Above her, two helmeted soldiers lie prone in tall grass with a field telephone handset and a rifle, beside a yellow radiogram card.

The lithograph carries the lines "Calling WAAC...", RADIOGRAM, TO ALL QUALIFIED WOMEN, MEET TOTAL WAR WITH YOUR TOTAL EFFORT, JOIN THE WAAC, WOMEN'S ARMY AUXILIARY CORPS and UNITED STATES ARMY, along with an instruction to apply at any U.S. Army recruiting and induction station.
03What colours and technique were used?
It is a colour lithograph in a limited palette of yellow, black, cream and grey-brown wash. The print carries folded paper creases as part of its surface. Our giclée reproduction keeps these tones and the fine line detail on archival matte paper.
