The Major Arcana are the 22 trump cards of a tarot deck, running from The Fool at zero to The World at XXI. They mark the big archetypal milestones of a life journey rather than everyday matters, unlike the 56 cards of the Minor Arcana.
Who illustrated the 1909 tarot deck?
The 1909 deck was illustrated by artist Pamela Colman Smith, working to the instructions of mystic Arthur Edward Waite and published by William Rider & Son. Smith's expressive line work and symbolism made it the most widely used tarot deck in the world.
