Questions about this print

What does this Arthur Rackham Uncle Scrooge Dinner scene show?

It shows an elderly man in a dark green-brown tailcoat and buckled shoes leaning around an open panelled door, one hand extended. A young woman in an off-shoulder white gown with a red sash stands with both hands clasped at her chest, while a young man in a dark tailcoat stands beside her at a round table set with wine glasses and a bowl of fruit.

Who created this artwork and when?

The illustration is by Arthur Rackham, a leading English book illustrator, and comes from his 1915 edition of Dickens's A Christmas Carol. Our version is a giclée reproduction of that public-domain plate, faithful to its muted olive, brown and cream tones with red accents. No original antique print is being sold.

What technique did Rackham use here?

Rackham worked in pen-and-ink line drawing finished with a delicate watercolour wash. You can see the fine outlines of the door, table and figures softened by muted colour, a full-colour palette of brown, beige, white, green and grey lifted by red. Our giclée print captures that line detail and gentle wash.

What size works for a dining room wall?

For a dining room feature above a sideboard, choose 18×24 or 24×30 so the door and figures read clearly from across the room. Smaller 11×14 or 16×20 prints suit a hallway or a gallery grouping. All ten sizes ship unframed, flat in a protective mailer or rolled in a crush-resistant tube, depending on size.
