Framing protects your poster and elevates it from a print to a piece of art. Our posters are printed on 220 GSM museum-grade matte paper that looks stunning both framed and unframed. Whether you just picked up your first poster or you are building a gallery wall, this guide helps you choose the right frame and display method for your space.

Frame Styles

Black or White Minimalist
The most popular choice. Clean lines that let the artwork speak. Works with any room style from bedrooms to offices. Best for: streetwear art, sneaker posters, KAWS designs.

Natural Wood
Adds warmth and texture. Oak, walnut, or pine tones complement earthy and abstract designs. A natural wood frame brings an organic feel that softens bold artwork. Best for: Japanese art, botanical prints, abstract wall art.

Metal / Aluminum
Sleek and modern. Ultra-thin profiles keep the focus entirely on the print. Lightweight and durable, metal frames are a favourite for clean contemporary spaces. Best for: car posters, F1 art, minimalist designs.

Ornate / Vintage
Thick, detailed frames that add drama and presence. They turn any poster into a statement piece and work especially well on feature walls. Best for: fashion prints, music legends, statement pieces.

To Mat or Not to Mat

  • Matting adds a border between the frame and the print, creating visual breathing room that draws the eye inward.
  • White or off-white mats work with almost everything and keep the look timeless.
  • A 2-3 inch mat is standard. Wider mats make smaller prints feel more substantial on the wall.
  • For a modern, clean look, skip the mat and let the print go edge-to-edge inside the frame.
  • Always use acid-free matboard to prevent yellowing over time.

Where to Buy Frames

  • IKEA — Affordable, clean designs. Their RIBBA and LOMVIKEN lines fit standard poster sizes perfectly.
  • Amazon — Widest selection at every price point. Great for bulk orders if you are framing a gallery wall.
  • Michaels / Local Frame Shops — Custom framing for non-standard sizes or premium finishes. Worth it for showcase pieces.

Our most common sizes (16×20, 18×24, 24×36) match standard frame sizes at most retailers, so finding an affordable frame is straightforward.

Step-by-Step Framing Tips

  1. Work on a clean, flat surface to avoid scratches or debris on the print.
  2. Wash your hands before handling the poster. Natural oils from your fingers can leave marks on matte paper.
  3. If the poster has a slight curl from shipping, lay it flat under heavy books for 24 hours before framing.
  4. Place the poster face-down on the mat or backing board.
  5. Secure the print with acid-free tape on the top edge only. This allows the paper to expand and contract naturally with humidity changes.
  6. Never use regular tape, glue, or adhesive directly on the print. These will damage the paper and leave residue.
  7. Clean the glass on both sides before sealing the frame. A single fingerprint on the inside will bother you forever.

Hanging Your Framed Poster

  • Eye level is approximately 57 inches from the floor to the centre of the artwork. This is the gallery standard used by museums worldwide.
  • Above a sofa: Centre the frame and hang it 6-8 inches above the backrest.
  • Large frames: Use two hooks or a wire for any frame larger than 18×24 to distribute weight evenly.
  • Avoid direct sunlight to preserve colours. Our museum-grade paper is archival quality, but prolonged UV exposure will fade all prints over time.
